Some of the ophthalmology centers in India are pioneering some excellent work using information technology to promote eye care. It includes all medical activities, including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, education and research.  There are approximately 50 ophthalmic centers that are connected to some tertiary level hospitals. Some of the ophthalmology centers provides email consultations and   run mobile tele-ophthalmology unit to access the rural and remote location.  There are 6 mobile vans with satellite connectivity supported by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) providing ophthalmic services at the door steps of the common man.
