Standard Operating Protocol for Telemedicine Practice at SGPGIMS |

Check the connectivity of Computer with communication media
- Check whether ISDN is working or not.
- Simply Connect ISDN Phone to NT (Network Terminal) and Dial any number
- Check whether Computer Detects Modem or Not.

- If the connectivity with IP then Be sure Both End are in Same Class. You may check the connectivity by using PING Command.

Establish the Connection
- Establish the connection between the software by simply Dialing the REMOTE Computer.
- Enter correct User Name and Password

- Select in Name (assigned by system administrator)
- Fill in Password (assigned by system administrator)

Add Medical Images
- Adding/Viewing Medical Images
User can store and edit the images related to the patient on Images Window. To add/view the images, click Images toolbar option. |

The following medical image types are supported by Application, and their Buttons appear on the Image Screen:
- X-Ray
- MRI
- CT
- Ultra Sound
- ECG
- Nuclear medicine
- Pathology Slides
Options available on Image Window
Following are the options available with images modality:
- Scan Image

To acquire/scan new image from a Twain compliant device, select Scan Image button. Now, you will see another screen showing a menu.
Select File -> Select Source...

A list of available devices installed on the system will appear. Select one of the devices, which is to be used to acquire image/data. |

Select File -> Acquire...
Now, the screen showing the user interface of corresponding device will appear from which we can select options and acquire image/data. |

After the acquisition has been done,
Select File -> Quit.
Now the acquired image/file is visible on the right hand side of the screen, which can be saved by filling all the empty fields.
2) Get Image
User can select the image/file already saved on the local disk by clicking Get Image button. Once the image/data has been selected by browsing, filling all the empty fields can save the image/data. |

Adding/Viewing Associated Files
The following Associated files types appear on the screen: |

Following are the options available in ECG modality:
1) Record New
To record a new ECG report:
- Install the ECG machine
- Attach security key
- Attach twelve leads of ECG with the patient
- Fill all the entries in the fields
- Click Record New.

Click Analyze and Exit buttons for acquisition. To save the report, click on Save Button.
2) Get ECG File
User can select a file already saved on the local disk by clicking Get ECG File button. Once the file has been selected by browsing, filling all the empty fields can save the file. However, any ECG file can be added, only Brentwood file formats can be viewed.
Stethoscope files can be acquired from the appropriate digital stethoscope to the system though the interface cable.
The stetho file already acquired can be directly incorporated into the system for sending to the remote consultation hospital.
Get Stetho file:
User can select a file already saved on the local disk by clicking Get Stetho File button. Once the file has been selected by browsing, filling all the empty fields can save the file. However, any stetho file can be added, only wave file formats can be viewed.
Remote Hospital Consultation
The Sanjeevani Application Software enables the logged in User / Doctor to refer patients to Specialist Doctors as Consultants. A patient‘s record can be sent to as many doctors as needed for Expert Opinion.
The consultant doctor can send his opinions as many times as he/she wants. But the consultant doctor can’t refer the patient to another doctor.
Remote hospital consultation mainly comprises of two parts:
1) Referring the patient
2) Expert Opinion
Referring the patient
To refer a patient to a doctor (consultant), the consulting doctor needs to connect to the remote hospital where the consultant doctor is working.
Steps for referring the patient:
- On Patient EPR Window, Click on consultation toolbar option
- On the new screen, select Hospital name (Remote Hospital) to which data is to be sent.

Select connection type to Remote Hospital (i.e. LAN or Dial Up) and click Next button
On the next screen, a list of Departments from the previously selected hospital is visible. Selecting the department populates the list of doctors, who are available for Consultative Services, from that department. After selecting both department and doctor, click Next button

Select the available relevant data (belonging to that patient) to be sent |

Finally, click Finish button
Expert Opinion
A doctor (consultant) may receive a patient from another doctor (consulting). The referred patient’s report can be viewed by selecting the sender hospital name and then double clicking the patient from the main screen.
After viewing the patient’s report, the doctor may write his/her opinion and send it to the consulting doctor.
Steps for Sending Expert Opinion:
