e-Governance in Health

e-Governance initiative of Govt. of India

The e-Governance initiative of Govt. of India is totally based on ICT which has the potential towards citizen centric services. The application of e-governance in health care can monitor and improve the quality of health care services, make the system efficient, transparent and cost effective as it will bring healthcare providers, policy makers, professionals and the public on a common platform.

Village Resourse Centers: Government of India has launched Village Resource Centers (VRCs) using communication and remote sensing satellite provided by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to give essential and intelligent services to 600,000 villages. The villagers will get information on agriculture, health, education, natural resources through VRCs.

Common Service Centers: The Government of India has formulated the National E-Governance Plan (NeGP) which has three components of SWAN, State Data Center (SDC) and Common Service Centers (CSCs) with the vision of providing all government services in an integrated manner at the doorstep of the citizen. As a part of the CSC scheme which aims at establishing 100,000 centers through out the country and the services envisaged include e-government services, education, health and telemedicine, financial, entertainment and others.
